Welcome to the first of our renovations and our very first blog post!!!
When we first bought our house an addition was added to the original log cabins porch. The condition of the porch was not livable, it was barely standing up on its own. Majority of the support was rocks stacked up on each other, where pillars were originally placed. The original thought was to fix the addition up as much as possible, as it added valuable space to this little log cabin. Unfortunately, the structure was not safe is anyway and we found an abundance of mold along the exterior.
The next step was to rebuild our future dining room (woot-woot)! Once again we left for the day and when we got back to a new floor, the majority of the walls and roof finished for us. Thank goodness for the incredible handymen in our family who came out and helped us big time. For the next few weeks, Jerry and I finished up the walls, rough opening for the new windows and doors. We also placed the rest of the roof up with temporary shingles until spring.
