While waiting for materials for the extension, we decided to do a small but exciting renovation (well maybe more exciting for us). The current layout of our house will have massive changes and this renovation is the starting point. The staircase is currently located in our living room and will need to move to the back of the house to allow for the upstairs to be built. The back area where the new stair location is also the only current entrance into our house so we will need to move to door over.
This renovation is opening up the new location for the back door and the instalation of the door. I know this doesn’t seem super exciting but for us, it is, we will gain a crapload of storage space till we build the new stairs in the spring.
Lucky for us there is a window located where we will be installing the new door, so it is basically already started for us. First, we removed the existing window (carefully as it is a new window for the barn) and opened the wall below fully.
Then we added the correct structure around for the doors rough opening to allow the door installations. Lastly fitting and securing the door in place and there we have it a door (wahoo!!).
